Explaining
“What’s most exciting about In Form is its story about a mode of architectural engagement that Boston has fostered and benefitted from, one that can be particularly instructive to young architects today, and one that many other cities can’t boast. Very few of the projects in the Legible City group came about through typical means – they are the result of opportunism on the part of...

In Form
Yesterday saw the end of install and beginning of a new phase of our work as curators and content creators. For this one we became professional vinyl installers, wrote text, made a newspaper, edited short films, developed an interactive iPad installation, built a 20 foot model, welded frames, hung things from beams with clamps, dug into archives, found original artifacts for each and every piece...

Lampens.
As we continue our work into all things Heroic, we keep looking (and finding) great examples of other concrete work. This residential piece by Juliaan Lampens is wonderful in the simplicity of the plan, and the floating elements that frame the kitchen. The plan itself is a thing of beauty. Further images here.

MicroGreen.
Over at loudpaper, Mimi rounds up a few of the reviews of her recently published book Micro Green, which we designed and developed with her during the last year. It’s a great collection of smaller dwellings, inspired natural houses and settings, and dare we say, set in a beautifully designed, small object.

We’re looking forward to testing these out on a few projects this...

Dancing Carefully.
A great article on o,u’s Kelly Hutzell regarding her work at CMU in Doha. Like most of our Middle East work, there’s a careful dance between progress, culture, and environment: “Seemingly overnight, Doha has gone from a quiet village to a burgeoning metropolis,” said Kelly Hutzell, a CMU assistant teaching professor. She added, “The challenge will be to manage this growth so that it is...

Images from Cityscape.
Seth sent us a few images from Cityscape of the model and book on display. The buildings rendered in color are ones that are already under construction. The book is the double size version. We’re still waiting to get a copy of the 100% version.  Plus one of the full city model that is just too big to be believed. Sowwah is at the top right. Mina Zayed, Lulu and the existing city...

The result, for those not able to...

Been on a Slowdive, Mogwai, Ride, MBV kick for the last few rainy days… luckily this site, title taken from an Ulrich Schanuss song/album. It’s been nice riding the Silverline with earphones in, EQ turned high to bass, and loud with these in my ears.
